land.mobil:LAB

The land.mobil:LAB is a project that deals with mobility in rural areas and is based in the Waldviertel region (Lower Austria). The region is characterized by widely scattered destinations and a low population density. Together with municipalities, local companies, and Waldviertel residents, the LAB is testing solutions for new mobility in rural areas, with scientific support from us at TU Wien. We have five years to address key issues such as flexible public transport, mobility for cultural and sporting events, and car sharing between private individuals. These ideas will then be implemented step by step.

In summary, we see the LAB as:

  • A multiplier of ideas and insights
  • An accelerator of the mobility transition in rural areas
  • A breeding ground for innovative mobility solutions
